SPORT FLOORS

THRUST FLOORS International manufactures, markets and installs a comprehensive range of “SPRUNG” SPORTS Floor Systems.

While TFI market and install a range of Sport Floors, designed to cater for Gymnasium, Performing Arts, Multipurpose Facilities and specialised sporting requirements such as for Squash Court construction etc THE most accredited Wood Floor System on the market today, is undoubtedly, the “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Sports Hall Flooring System which incorporates a unique “Cushion-of-Air” construction.

With safety consciousness at a premium today and in the face of extraordinary litigation claims flowing from the most simple of incidents, “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Sports Floors provide the most comprehensive protection of any indoor sports floor system in the world and is much sort after as the preferred option in wood floor design, in the Sport Floor market.

The unique design concept of “AIR-THRUST” provides outstanding protection from injury, by providing a unique working-combination of both Area Resilience and Point Resilience, while still retaining excellent ball bounce and ball response, consistently, throughout the floor.

”AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic SPORTS Floors are a unique combination of eleven laminations of cross-directionally laid materials that work together over a total “cushion-of-air” construction, to provide a Sport Floor System that has no “dead spots”, and is also totally “consistent in it’s response” throughout the whole of the playing surface.

As “AIR-THRUST” is not constructed on a bearer or joist system, you never experience a situation where one might land with one foot over a pier or one foot between joists, thus applying different stresses to the human body when running and jumping or twisting and turning, often the source of stress fractures, shin splint, and muscle sprain and strain injuries, on conventional pier & beam floors.

Similarly, due to the absence of bearers and joists, you are unrestricted in the use of scissor lifts, cherry pickets, fork lift trucks, mobile seating systems and similar materials handling equipment, which may be required to traffic the floor, which is limited only by the load restrictions that would otherwise apply to your structural sub-floor design.

“AIR-THRUST” Sport Floors are not nearly as “noisy” as conventional wood floor design as this system avoids the normal hollow, “drummy” sound inherent in conventional construction. Similarly, all high roofed structures are often plagued with vibration sounds etc in roof ventilators etc, all of which are much easier to avoid when you start with a concrete slab and a solid structure.

“AIR-THRUST” Sport Floors offer a great advantage in their speed of construction and the fact that (unlike conventional construction) this system can be installed anywhere in Australia in uninterrupted areas up to 4000 m2 at a time, without any internal construction joints breaking the playing surface. “AIR-THRUST” provides for a unique combination of expansion and contraction coefficients that are incorporated into the construction method itself.

When compared to conventional construction which requires that a minimum 12 mm of expansion void must be built into the floor every 6 metres across the surface of the floor, you will appreciate that “AIR-THRUST” offers some outstanding performance characteristics that see it backed by the most comprehensive TEN (10) YEAR GUARANTEE, that covers both workmanship and material.

The overall height of the “standard” “AIR-THRUST” system is 38 mm.

Depending on specific client requirements, it is possible to tailor this system to be acquired as a two-stage purchase. Stage 1 acquires the basic sub-floor structure as a “budget” installation, with Stage 2 seeing the sub-floor structure, capable of being “overlaid” with the full Playing Surface at a latter time.

ALTERNATIVELY, other “budget” options do exist to introduce alternative materials.

Ultimately, the only reason for building a structure to facilitate gymnasium and sporting activities, is to house a good floor. One can always up-grade other aspects of a structure over time, but to compromise quality on the flooring system has proven to be folly in the past, that can indeed prove to be very expensive in the longer term.

Experience has taught that to buy anything less than you can afford, is not wisdom.

The “AIR-THRUST” range of Wood Floor Systems that are specifically designed for Sporting Facilities offer an extraordinary array of additional benefits that are only briefly summarised here.
