PARQUET

“PARQUET” is a term that applies to timber floors which are generally laid to form a pattern or design. “PARQUET” may take many forms, and may be either site-finished or pre-finished. Some of the more common forms of “Parquet” include :-

MOSAIC PARQUET

A timber tile or panel manufactured from small fingers or slats of timber usually held together with a mat of scrim or glued base paper. Generally 8-9 mm thick.

BLOCK PARQUET

Wood Block Parquet is a hand laid timber floor, formed with individual pieces that are installed in such a fashion as to create different geometry on the floor in wood. Preferred thickness is “standard” at 19 mm Some product is made 14 mm thick Sizes can vary, but maximum economy comes with using the most “standard” size 260 x 65 x 19 mm. Other sizes may include these noted below, but are not necessarily available in all species, or may involve a “special” production run.

CUSTOM CLASSIC PANELS

Wood is crafted into selected geometric shapes to form repeat patterns throughout the floor. Panel floor work is a more expensive form of parquet presentation due to the variety of timber sections and sizes and the additional cutting and waste involved in creating such handsome designs. Thickness of panels can vary, however, most Custom Panels are manufactured 19 mm thick. We are able to produce some patterns and designs 10 mm thick, but panel size is generally restricted to 480 x 480 mm.

The “Standard” sizes of most 19 mm thick Custom Panels, are typically :-

Panels can be made to accommodate a wide range of custom sizes to suit specific room sizes. However, it is normally accepted that with standard use, panels will normally be “cut” at the point of accommodating border work or the perimeter of the field.
