Dear Customer,

Further to your enquiry as to the type of Wood Floor Systems that we manufacture and install I set out the following information for your assistance. As you will note in our credentials that are logged in our website www.parquet.com.au we specialise exclusively in Wood Floors.

COMMERCIALLY

Our Wood Floor Systems are designed to specifically meet the needs of many commercial users such as schools, colleges and universities throughout our education system. By way of example, one of these systems, being our Embossed Rustic Parquet, for which we have been recognised with the awarding of an Australian Design Award for innovative design of a “high traction” work floor.

Embossed Rustic Parquet is used in wood work and metal work rooms and similar applications where wood shavings etc can tend to make a floor slippery. Apart from providing a high traction work floor, this system almost avoids conventional maintenance in that it receives only one (1) coat of fine wood oils once a year as a maintenance coat. Hence saving the Education Departments maintenance budget hundreds of thousands of dollars in maintenance costs.

The Education Departments in all Australian States also extensively utilise timber flooring in a range of other applications in both class room, general assembly and multi-purpose areas. Where in the past these facilities have extensively used 9 mm thick Mosaic Parquet, there has been over the past twenty years a solid trend to upgrade these specifications to utilise our 19mm thick Wood Block Parquet, wood floors which are designed to last the life of any of these buildings.

THRUST FLOORS INTERNATIONAL

SPORT / GYMNASIUM and MULTI-PURPOSE FACILITIES Throughout all Australian States and Asia we have been extremely successful in installing our “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Sports Hall Flooring System which is certainly regarded as the best and most cost effective system available anywhere in the world.

After scrutiny of many other wood floor systems drawn from all over the world “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Sports Hall Flooring was selected for use in Australia’s National Stadium in Canberra. As you are probably well aware, Australia does extremely well as a sporting nation and a great deal of this success has to do with the facilities that our athletes train and prepare upon and we have now installed “AIR-THRUST” floors in over 850 major sporting facilities in Australia alone over the past 40 years.

The uniqueness of “AIR-THRUST” is that it’s “cushion-of-air” construction provides both for both comfort and safety of the player with both area resilience and point resilience designed and accommodated within the very rapid pneumatic workings of the floor, that still retains firm ball bounce and accurate ball response.

So successful has the marketing of our “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Sport Floor been that we specifically engineered the system to meet the International Squash Rackets Associations requirements for the Squash Court industry. Hence our “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Squash Court System was developed and endorsed by Ken Hiscoe, one of Australia’s World Champion professional squash players and owner of “Hiscoes” one of Australia’s leading squash court facilities.

Over the years we have installed both “AIR-THRUST” Pneumatic Sport and Squash Court floors as far a field as Asia and Saudi Arabia and in most areas in which we market, “AIR-THRUST” is clearly recognised as the pre-eminent wood floor system in any of these sport or multi-purpose facilities and particularly sort after in the boutique Gymnasium / Fitness market and accompanying international hotel market that both offer and even promote these facilities to attract clientele.

DOMESTICALLY / COMMERCIALLY

While we obviously install a certain amount of our work in conventional Tongue and Grooved Plank and Board flooring, one of the areas in which we have great delight in expressing our creativity is in the area of the up-market domestic clientele in the creation of a new home and architects and designers who are looking to create a lasting master-piece in the entrance to major commercial buildings etc.

This is an area in which our range of “CUSTOM CLASSIC” PANEL FLOORS are used extensively and are complimented with sometimes extravagant use of Inlaid Custom Border work and / or our range of Coronets and Medallions.

“CUSTOM CLASSIC”

Panels are manufactured in a wide range of Patterns and Designs which incorporate a variety of geometric combinations to form panels both square and six and eight sided manufactured from a combination of up to 70 different timber species that we work with, drawn from all over the world and like our range of coronets and medallions are sometimes also embellished with brass and other metals and sometimes combined with marble and stone.

Our range of Coronets and Medallions typically include compass points, elliptical shapes and grape vine inlay work.

INDUSTRIAL

From time to time we specifically engineer both our conventional Wood Block Parquet and our END GRAIN Wood Block Parquet to accommodate specific industrial requirements.

One such area in which we regularly become involved is where very high voltage equipment is involved. Because kiln dried timber is such an excellent insulator against electric shock, parquet floors installed over concrete floors in many of these facilities including schools of electrical engineering in our universities, is very much the norm.

By way of example, one of the most interesting industrial applications in which we have been involved was the design and installation of floors for the Anglo-Australian Telescope built on top of Sliding Springs Mountain at Coonabarabran NSW.

This project required a wood block parquet floor that would be suitable for continuous exposure to condensation and atmospheric moisture when the dome is open to the cold night air during nightly viewing of the heavens. The purpose and function of our especially “thick” floor was to prevent heat leakage into the dome from the air conditioned rooms of the tower building constructed below, as any leakage would set up air movement “shimmer” in a similar way to what you see come off the road when you drive on a very hot day, thus distorting visual observations taken through what is regarded to be the third biggest but second most efficient optical telescope in the world.

So as you can see, we certainly get to apply ourselves to some very unusual project requirements in far flung corners of the world, and we very much enjoy the creative work that we do.

I hope that my detailed explanation to you of this fairly broad range of the products that we produce may encourage you to seek opportunities for you to have our materials specified into major local construction projects in Sweden.

If this communiqué provokes any other questions, please feel free to come back to me and I shall endeavour to fill in any of the blanks.

Sincerely yours
